Intra Uterine Insemination is an Assisted Reproductive method which increases the chance of sperms to expose to oocyte in the uterus and subsequently increases the chance of fertilization.

Sperm processing or washing is a laboratory technique where by the motile sperms separated from other cells. In this method sperms are examined under microscope and classified as concentration, volume, viscosity, number of leucocytes etc. Fast progressive motile sperms with normal morphology is obtained and handed over to the clinician. Sex selection in IUI is performed through centrifugation and sperms with Y chromosome is located at the top due to light weight rather than X chromosome which settles down during washing process. The success rate of sex determination is 60 to 70%. This is a simple method which is done without anaesthetic by injecting of processed sperms into uterus through vagina.
